Round 12 saw The B-Range D Grade win the trophy which some have described as arguably more significant than the Ashes. The boys got over the top of Uraidla in a thriller at Forest Range to collect the chocolates and push forward in search of a spot in the finals. Male Model Thomas Keough was the star with the bat hitting a more than solid 64 before he was cleaned up by Marcus Ferrari. Westy and Old Man Basford then got on with the job scoring 38 and 39 respectively before everyone’s favourite axe murder Killer Col slapped up a quick fire, unbeaten and sober 13*. The Ranges finishing 8/196.
The Demons came out knowing they had a job ahead of them to chase down the Ranges 196. Former Baskets player Braden Wotton came to the pitch anticipating some serious sledging from his brother Russ and cousin, Male Model Thomas Keough. It didn’t take long for the small talk to start and the Ranges to get on top. Uraidla 2/13 and looking in trouble when Sutton and Gepp came out to bat. The run rate dried right up and the Ranges looked in control of the match until another former Baskets player Brad West came out for a tonk, knocking up a quick fire 50 with support from Bone-George 48. In the end though it just wasn’t enough from the Demons who fell 25 runs short. Jimmy Shea finishing with an impressive 3/36 from his 7 overs.
