In Round 2, early on saturday arvo club icon Big Rob started building the new BBQ which came with easy to follow instructions. The weekend saw a round of mixed fortunes for The Range with SCIB running scared from Geersy's men in the C grade, while the D grade fell short in the carby cup, but only for the time being.
The forfeit gave the Cs a handy 10 points which always make for a good start to the new season. However the lads were itching to play, and whilst we all know its hard to get teams together sometimes, for clubs to be folding in such a manner; week in, week out, is totally unnaceptable. The circumstances did however give the lads an opportunity to get to Lords and partake in some Amber Arm Lifts; something Rum Drinking, Meatloaf Lookalike, Sammy Button did with style. Its a pity the game didnt go down quite as well as Sam's Bundy, The D Grade falling well short of a Uraidla team featuring a plethora of A grade standard cricketers. The Uraidla team have set the bench mark for the lads to match, something to work on over the coming weeks. Coathangers Higginson 2//26 and Westy 4/27 have set the trend with the ball and all things considered for a first hit out, the lads all did pretty well. And yes, D grade captain Russell Wotton was clean bowled...... for a duck...... by his brother.
Next weeks games see the Cs take on Onkas at Lords and the Ds have Happy's in everybody's favourite Hills village of Aberfoyle Park. It is expected that some time within the next month Rob will finish building the BBQ.
